Cut Opal Bargains
Each of these stones has some problem.
Either they are cracked, or have some inclusion,
or maybe they just need some TLC.
They are not guaranteed except to be what they are described to be.
"The Comet"
What appears to be a comet streaking across the face.
Beautiful Lightning Ridge semi-black with Orange-Green fire.
Grey potch and snake-like clay inclusions.
Without the clay, this piece would sell for over $30,000.
Cover the clay with gold work ... save a bundle.

The following stone has several shallow thin cracks.
It was in a beautiful ring and may have cracked due to heat, but
it was cut over 8 years ago, and showed these cracks within 1 year.
The cracks have not progressed beyond that in the last 7 years.
They are almost impossible to see unless you have a magnifying lens.
If it were perfect, the price would be over $8,000.

more than 7 years ago. The cracks were in the original host.
They have not progressed or clouded since that time.
It also has a small sand grain inclusion.

This stone is a very nicely shaped and polished round that has
some 'primitive' cracks. They were in the original rough rather
than having developed after cutting and treatment.
The cracks are not that obvious and shouldn't progress.

This semi-crystal heart shape should not be re-cut
just to avoid the little clay inclusion that opened at the
last minute. A little bezel will cover it and save you a lot
of money on this beauty.
